Our Mission

Wilahmena's Place Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, inspiring lifelong learning, advance knowledge and assistance in strengthening our community. Working in partnerships with businesses, foundations, congregations of all faiths, state and local agencies, individuals and volunteers, Wilahmena's Place Inc. stands to offer our clients a  continuum of services until they are ready to stand on their own. Some people would call it empowerment, Wilahmena's Place Inc. calls it nurturing the human spirit!

We believe everyone can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

Meet the Founder

Shamika Woumnm is the founder of Wilahmena's Place Inc., est. in June 2016. Ms. Woumnm has credited the start of the organization by overcoming her own adversities. Ms. Woumnm was a teenaged, single parent raising a son, eventually five children on her own.

Hardships and overcoming battles were commonplace for Shamika, so bringing these types of services to the forefront of her community with dignity all the while with discretion and anonymity of her clients are key focal points to the organization.

Ms. Woumnm has a strong passion for the work that she does in the communities that she services. Wilahmena's Place Corp. strongly focuses on underserved communities that are primarily located in the Metropolitan areas of the city. Seemingly they are the "most forgotten." Ms. Woumnm is currently working on her Master's degree in Public Health.

Our Vision

We aspire to be a distribution hub for Wilahmena's Place Corp. i.e. food, clothing etc. In addition to a state of the art drop-in and resource facility where we would offer a safe space for inner city youth.
